Progressing your career in tax: advice for new tax professionals

Women in Tax are delighted to invite you to our session on “Progressing your career in tax: advice for new tax professionals.”

Our speakers have a wealth of experience across the tax profession, and include:

Am Downing: Am is a Senior Manager at Rawlinson & Hunter, specialising in business taxes and SDLT. She has worked with Rawlinson & Hunter for over 15 years, with other previous experience as an auditor and accountant at Simia Farra & Co.

Charlotte Hobrough: Charlotte is an Associate Director at BDO, specialising in expatriate tax. After qualifying and working in Big 4 firms, Charlotte decided to retrain as a primary school teacher before re-joining the profession in 2016.

Heather Self: Heather is a Partner in the corporate tax team at Blick Rothenberg. She has over 30 years of experience in tax, as a partner at Pinsent Masons and EY, as Head of Tax at a FTSE 100 company and as an anti-avoidance adviser at HMRC. In 2020, Heather was awarded the Council Award, the highest-ranking award that the Institute can give for her outstanding contributions to the life of the Institute and the profession, including co-founding Women in Tax.

Rhiannon Kinghall Were: Rhiannon is the Head of Tax Policy at Macfarlanes, monitoring and advising on the implications for business as they arise from proposals through to enacted legislation. Previously, Rhiannon was Principal Tax Policy Adviser at the CBI, where she was responsible for leading the policy development of domestic tax issues affecting businesses operating in the UK. Rhiannon started her career in tax at BDO and KPMG, working on corporate and international tax issues.

Tasneem Kadiri: Tasneem is the UK and Ireland Tax Director at L’Oréal where she is responsible for both direct and indirect taxes. Tasneem won Tolley’s best in house tax leader in 2020. Tasneem first moved in-house – to AkzoNobel from Rawlinson & Hunter – in 2010. She is also on a number of diversity and inclusion and technical tax Committees.

This will be an informal event, where after a brief introduction and Q&A with each speaker, you will have the opportunity to "speed-network" with the speakers in the room with drinks and canapes.
